England National Cricket Team batsman, 23-year-old Harry Brook, has said he is excited to be taking part in the Indian Premier League for the first time (IPL) next year.
Former IPL champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have spent a whopping INR 13.25 crore to acquire Harry Brook in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction on Friday, December 23 in Kochi.

IPL Auction 2023: Harry Brook bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 13.25 crore
England’s Harry Brook entered the IPL auction with a base price of INR 1.5 crore. Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were involved in a bidding war to acquire the Englishman’s services and in the end, SRH outbid everyone to nab him for INR 13.25 crore.
In a video shared on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) official Twitter account, Brook said that he is thankful for getting the chance to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 23-year-old added that he has heard that the atmosphere at SRH is amazing.

“Hello Orange Army. I am really excited and grateful for this opportunity to come to the IPL this year. I am looking forward to playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. I’ve heard the atmosphere is amazing. One of the best terrains of the comp (competition). So, I am very excited that we are coming back to Uppal,” Brook said in a video posted by Sunrisers Hyderabad on his Twitter account.
After being sold for a whopping INR 13.25 crore, Brook revealed that he was having dinner with his mother and grandmother when he was sold to SRH.
“I have lost my words, I was having dinner with my mother and grandmother, they were crying when SRH picked me up. Thank you very much SRH,” Brook said.
The youngster recently won the Player of the Series award in the three-match Test series against Babar Azam & Co. in Pakistan. He emerged as the top run-scorer in the Test series, scoring 468 runs at an average of 93.60, including three and a half centuries.
Furthermore, Harry Brook became the first ever IPL 2023 auction millionaire and overall the most expensive specialist batsman ever sold in a mini-auction, beating Shimron Hetmyer who sold for INR 7.75.
