Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan was absolutely delighted to have England captain the red ball. Ben Stokes in the team and called the duo of MS Dhoni and Ben Stokes a “great combination”.
Ben Stokes was acquired by the Chennai-based franchise for a whopping INR 16.25 crore and matched Chris Morris’s fee from the IPL 2021 auction and became the third most expensive player in Indian history. Premier League (IPL).

In a video shared on the official Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Twitter account, Viswanathan said that having a two-time World Cup-winning captain, Dhoni, and a two-time World Cup-winning player, Stokes, is a great thing to the side.
“Getting an all-rounder of the caliber of Ben Stokes was really, really good for the team. He has the experience of winning two World Cups for England. Another World Cup winning captain our ‘Thalaivan’ is, I think he will be a great match for CSK,” team CEO Kasi Viswanathan said in a video shared by CSK on Twitter.

Most notably, the trio of Stokes, Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane played together for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan further said that they have a good combination of all-rounders in the team.
“Another three versatile went for a great price, we knew we had an opportunity. And I think we took advantage of that opportunity and we’re lucky to have it. We have a very good combination of all-rounders in the sense that we have a Ben Stokes. We have a Jadeja, we have a Moeen Ali. We have a Jamieson. So, I think it’s a good mix.
“When it comes to bowling, we’ve got a good crop of Indian closers too, and it should give captain ‘Thalaivan’ a great chance to come back and do well this season,” he added.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) released up to 8 players ahead of the mini-auction. They entered the mini-auction with a total of INR 13.2 crore in their pocket. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had 18 players in the squad, 6 of whom were foreigners, and they had 7 slots open, of which 2 were for foreign players. Overall, CSK bought Ben Stokes, Kyle Jamieson, Ajinkya Rahane, Nishant Sindhu, Shaik Rasheed, Ajay Mandal and Bhagath Varma in the mini-auction.
