“He’s a three dimensional player, batting, bowling and fielding, he can also bat at the top of the order and a bowler to die for. Although we have Rabada and Arshdeep, but someone as good as Sam Curran, there are no surprises.” .
Curran broke Chris Morris’s record of INR 16.25 crore to become the most expensive buy in an IPL auction. Furthermore, he has become the most expensive player in IPL history, surpassing even retained players Virat Kohli and KL Rahul (INR 17 crores).

During the same discussion, Stuart Binny praised the young Englishman, saying:
“I think it’s also the amount of hard work he’s put in. The results he’s gotten, not just for the teams he’s played for but also for England, show his amount and all-around champions demand this price.”
Meanwhile, former Australia National Cricket Team player Tom Moody said the stars aligned perfectly for Curran to land a huge IPL deal of INR 18.50 crore. He said:
“It’s a great example, particularly in the mini-auction, of supply and demand. There is a great demand for every kit of an SUV. And Sam Curran, it’s also perfect timing for him, given his World Cup performances and his age. All the stars have aligned for him perfectly to get this kind of price. It’s a big development for the Kings and a good one, they look like a very, very good team.”
